Just got diagnosed with Tinnitus and Hyperacusis. Just want some help on what to buy. Tried the cheap foam plugs and they don't fit my ears because of my weird angled ear canals. They are pretty narrow too. Well, I just don't want to end up deaf.

Thank you in advance!

I'd ask my physician if I were you, or consult a hearing aids shop.

Myself, I just have some €5 washable and thus reusable earplugs from the motorcycling accessories shop. I doubt those are good enough for your case, though.

like plugs will have any help when you already have tinitus
it'll filter out all background noise, and you'll end up with only the tinitus beep
i'd listen to music, to push the tinitus to the background

Funny you should bring this up, my friend just did a video on earplugs last month.

These are the plugs all my friends have settled on for track, street, and touring use.

My doctor told me that I can use generic earplugs from the drugstore or buy whatever I'm comfortable with as long as I'm doing something for my own hearing's sake. Well, I already tried the cheap ones so I'm off to the next.

In my case it doesn't stay for long. Maybe 2 to 3 days, 5 at most. It also only happens when I ride for a long time. The noise sensitivity is the one I can't take. It gives me goosebumps and makes me nauseous. The doctor said I can still conserve my hearing as long as I start with the little things.

Will surely check these out.

A friend of mine recommended this custom hearing protection company around our area called Big Ear Inc. They seem pretty nice and they do these videos explaining their products and I really loved this one
. The plugs are filtered, and you can change the filter settings. They are also custom fitted so I hope they work with my narrow ear canals.

Still not sure though. They are a bit expensive. Will probably call them and make them convince me to buy. :ROFLMAO:

An audiologist can make you some custom plugs for $50 or so. I have a set.

I've been using Alpine Motosafe Tour for couple of years now.

Can attest that these work well with small ear canals with awkward angle. These have less attenuation than many foam plugs, but I very much prefer these for touring, as I can still hear traffic around me and hear enough to talk to people when stopped. But my ears are still fine after 5-6 hours on the autobahn @ 160-190kph, even with my rather loud modular helmet.

I'm using Hearos Ultimate Softness Series for years and I have no complaints.
