Edit: Just realized we have a thread by blind_io already, but its from 2007. This result didn't show up until I refreshed the thread several times over. In any case that thread is located here: http://forums.finalgear.com/off-topic/comics-18526/

As per suggestion by a few people in the funny pictures thread, let's take comics out and put them in a separate thread.

As it happens I was just on PHDcomics

So post those funny webcomics! Or post regular comics that are interesting, exciting, funny or make your pants wet!

Does it have to be only web comics? I have suggestion on what you can read from real comics.

First let me add to the web comics: http://www.smbc-comics.com/ and http://www.amazingsuperpowers.com/

As for modern comics that are highly recommended by me:
1. The Walking Dead (One of the best comics about zombie apocalypse, fuck that it's one of the best comics, period.

2. Locke and Key (involves mind blowing magic keys, and great character development)

3. Scott Pilgrim (got me interested since the movie is coming out, it's ok)

4. Invincible (just started reading it since it's by Robert Kirkman the same game who wrote The Walking Dead, looking good so far)

5. Kevin Smith's Batman Cacophony and Widening Gyre (very awesome batman series, from one of my favorite directors)

6. The Astonishing X-men Vol. 1-4 (Joss Whedon's awesome story telling and the depth he goes through to show what the characters are going through is so life like)

As for Classics comics:
1. Watchmen
2. Iron Man's Demon in a Bottle
3. Batman The Dark Knight Returns

i'll agree with Invincible, i started reading that in the last few months and really enjoying it. its far different to what i was expecting and its quickly becoming one of my must reads.
I still prefer Green Lantern although i am enjoying Marvel's cosmic line at the moment with Dan Abnett and Andy Lannings work on Nova, Guardians of the Galaxy, Quasar, Thanos and the Annihilation events. I would have read them anyway since Abnett & Lanning also wrote the Gaunt's Ghosts book series (come on Marvel or DC, turn that one into a comic book!)
Walking Dead is a good book in how it gradually becomes more painful for the main character. With each issue i find myself wondering just how much more he can take before he finally snaps.
Also thanks to others in this forum i'm also reading Northlanders as well, simple in concept but beautifully executed.
Classic Comics i find are
Mark Millar's The Ultimates (if the upcoming Avengers movie is based upon this, it can only be made of win)
Warren Ellis and Mark Millar's run on the Authority.
Alan Moore's Watchmen (i don't care what anyone says, i loved the film)
Neil Gaiman's The Sandman (in terms of progressive story-telling i can't think of anything else that beats this).

i am looking forward to the forthcoming Batman: Odyssey coming along which has Neal Adams returning to draw the Batman character for the first time in years. Downside, its being written by Frank Miller and after All Star Batman, Miller should have been locked away from the Batman franchise along with the Batman & Robin film

No, that's a great idea. I've edited the first post to include regular comics, so people who want to contribute can see it encompasses both.

I know I've only been posting PhD but this really sums up my work at the lab right now (apart from the giving it to other students aspect):

Whatever my mentor suggested to do isn't working and I've had to figure it out myself. At least he appreciates my efforts since my tactics work
